ISTD explained that visitors to the country, tourists and non-residents can use this sales tax tourist refund service with respect to goods purchased and taken with them when departing the country. Special offices belonging to TAG have been designated for this purpose. It added that non-residents can ask for refunds within three months of the date of purchase. Director-General of ISTD Mr. Bashar Saber emphasized that while ISTD enforces the law in imposing and collecting the taxes, it is also keen to refund sales tax to non-residents and tourists upon leaving the country with their purchases via airports and land and sea borders through TAG.
