ISTD : Follow up on taxpayers who did not submit income returns during the legal period

ISTD announced that, as part of the procedures for automating tax services, the follow-up program for taxpayers will start proceeding with the procedures of the second phase of follow-up, which includes following up on companies, establishments, employees and users who are obligated to submit income tax returns for the fiscal year 2022 who did not submit the returns during the legal period for submitting the returns that it ended on the 30th of April.

These procedures will also include employees and workers in public and private institutions who are obligated to submit returns that exceed their incomes from salaries and wages, 9 thousand dinars for singles and 18 thousand dinars for dependents, as deducting income tax from salaries and wages per month does not exempt them from submitting income tax returns annually.

ISTD explained that the follow-up procedures also include all retirees whose monthly pension salaries exceed 2,500 dinars per month, as they are obligated to submit an income tax returns because their income from retirement exceeds 2,500 dinars per month.

The department called on taxpayers who did not submit income tax returns for the year 2022 until this time of the year to submit them as soon as possible in order to avoid being subjected to fines stipulated by the law, which include an added tax for not submitting a tax return, as well as a fine of 4 per thousand of the value of tax amounts. Due for each week of delay or any part thereof, as the delay in submitting the income tax return for the legal date that ended on April 30, exposes the obligated taxpayer to a fine ranging from 100 to 500 dinars, in addition to being subjected to the initial and administrative assessment.
