Abu Ali calls for submission of 2023 income tax returns and registration in the E-invoicing system

Dr Hussam Abu Ali, Director general of the income and sales tax department invited those who did not submit their 2023 income tax returns until now, to submit them and pay the amounts therein declared electronically pre the end of the current april 30th which is considered the legal deadline for the submission of 2023 income tax returns. Noting that submission of income tax returns and payment and fulfillment of due balances is done via electronic tools. He pointed to the importance of filling tax returns with realistic and correct information that express their actual and correct incomes during the fiscal year 2023. And related to employees who get salaries and monthly wages, Director general of the income tax department confirmed that they have to submit an income tax return if the gross annual income reached 9 thousand JOD for non-breadwinner an 18 thousand JOD for the breadwinner and that the monthly withholding of the income tax from their salaries and wages by the finance department of the institution or establishment or company does not exempt those whose annual incomes exceeds the threshold of exemptions from submitting income tax returns on annual basis. He also called on for all retirees whose Monthly pension salaries exceed the 2500 JOD to submit income tax returns for the year 2023. Abu Ali confirmed that delaying the submission of the income tax return beyond the legal deadline that ends on April 30 will expose the taxpayer to a fine ranging between 100-500 dinars, in addition to being subject to initial and administrative assessment. On the other hand, the Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department called on the owners and managers of companies and establishments, professionals, craftsmen and individuals who are bound by the national e-invoicing system to the necessity of ensuring that the financial managers, accountants or their authorized representatives register these companies and establishments and the activity of individual professionals and craftsmen in the national electronic invoicing system and issue invoices duly from Through the system or through the electronic link to the national e-invoicing system. If they have not registered with the national e-invoicing system yet, it is necessary to hurry their registration in the national e-invoicing system and reconcile their situation with the system’s requirements as quickly as possible to avoid legal accountability and exposure to legal fines.
