Abu Ali: We hope that Jordan will be a model to be followed in achieving tax justice

13/09/2022

Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, said that we adopt development, reform and modernization as an approach in our tax work and move away from adopting any increase in the taxes currently imposed and not imposing any new taxes.

Abu Ali added during the workshop he opened today, entitled Institutional Excellence, which is held in cooperation with the Public Financial Management and Administration Project, that our role in the Income and Sales Tax Department is to achieve tax justice by addressing distortions and imbalances, filling gaps and applying international practices.

He said that the concept of reform is not a slogan to be launched, as the results of the reform are large and distinct, and the data, achievements and outputs that are announced on a regular basis indicate the results of the reform.

He added that we aspire that Jordan will be a model for all countries of the world in achieving tax justice, which we are working to achieve thanks to everyone's efforts.

The DG indicated that the employees of the Department's directorates will be involved in reform, modernization and development so that the directorate employees have a continuous role that contributes to institutional support for development and reform, and this is what the Public Financial Management and Administration project funded by USAID helps us with.

Abu Ali thanked the Public Financial Management and Administration Project funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for its efforts and for all the support it provides to the department in all fields.

In turn, Mrs. Ruba Abu Hussein, representative of the United States Agency for International Development, USAID, praised the achievements of the Income and Sales Tax Department, as it witnesses every day the development, modernization and new achievements, so that the department has exceeded the goals set in the project.

Mrs. Manal Al-Assir also praised the achievements the department witnessed during the past few years on all axes related to development, reform and achievements, all thanks to the pioneering and distinguished ideas of the administration keen to bring about reform and change.

She also praised the department's achievements in the field of electronic auditing, training, electronic services, the billing program, and Fawateery campaign.

The institutional excellence workshop is held for a period of three days, in which employees representing all directorates of the department will participate, during which they will be briefed on the definitions and concepts of quality and excellence and the eight principles of excellence, as well as on standards related to institutional development, excellence and evaluation.
