Director General : 5,213 billion income and sales collections during the past year

 The Director General, Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, announced that the total income and sales tax collections during 2021 amounted to a total of 5,213 billion dinars, compared to 4,637 collected during the year 2020, with an increase of 576 million dinars, thus the percentage of increase in collections during the past year over the year 2020 is 12%.

 He explained that sales tax collections during the past year 2021 amounted to (4,037) billion dinars, compared to (3,534) billion dinars collected during the year 2020, an increase of (503) million dinars, which constitutes an increase of 14%.

 He also pointed out that the income tax increased during the last year 2021, reaching (1.176) billion dinars, while it was (1,103) billion dinars during the year 2020, i.e. an increase of (73) million dinars, representing a rate of 7%.

The Director-General, Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, thanked the taxpayers who are committed to submitting tax returns and paying the tax due on them on their legal dates in order to avoid fines, which enabled the department to achieve the targeted collections in the General Budget Law for the year 2021.‎

 Abu Ali said that the increase in the department’s collections during the past year 2021 compared to the previous year is due, in addition to the effects of economic growth, to the reform plans that had positive effects on the department’s work results and outputs, and to the voluntary commitment of taxpayers, which contributed to strengthening the tax culture, a national duty and legal obligation.

As well as to reform tax distortions and the department’s procedures in combating tax evasion and tax avoidance and making settlements and reconciliation with taxpayers  with taking into account their circumstances by paying the claims due from them.

The Director-General called on the financial managers of institutions and companies to obtain tax services electronically, whether it is submitting returns, paying a tax, or obtaining any other tax service.
