This April 30th is the deadline for submitting income tax returns

Income and Sales Tax Department announced that the current April 30th is the legal deadline for submitting the income tax return for the fiscal year 2023, and called on taxpayers who have not yet submitted their income tax returns for the year 2023 to take the opportunity left till the end of this month by submitting their income tax returns and paying their declared amounts electronically before the end of the legal period in order to avoid exposure to fines stipulated by the law, which include an added tax for failing to submit their returns ranging from 100 JOD to 500 JOD, as well as a fine of 4 per thousand of the value of the tax due for each week of delay or any part thereof.

On the other hand, the Income and Sales Tax Department called on the owners of companies and establishments, professionals, craftsmen, and individuals who are obligated to the national e-invoicing system to make sure that their companies, establishments, and activities are registered in the invoicing system in order to reconcile the legal situations. ISTD pointed that by registering with the national e-invoicing system, registrants can take advantage of the benefits that the department offers including pushing their tax transactions fastest, issuing their tax clearance faster, deferring tax payments, and eliminating the burden of transferring invoices books and fiscal data from the companies and establishments to the ISTD auditors offices, and the returns transaction that is submitted by complied taxpayers is treated a special treatment during the procedure of filtering audit samples. The department stressed to all those obligated, in the event that they have not registered with the national electronic invoicing system yet, to quickly register in the system and reconcile their situation according to the requirements of the system in order to avoid legal accountability and exposure to legal fines, noting that registration in the system can be done through the registration link: https://portal.jofotara. gov.jo/ar/login. ISTD indicated that taxpayers can contact the taxpayer services center in the department via phone, WhatsApp, or various social media sites to receive the required assistance, answer their inquiries and comments, assist them in conducting their transaction procedures electronically, and respond to them in the shortest possible time.
